I just realized I never posted this.. it was in draft mode. The pictures from the March post go along with the details of this post.
Last week (the first of March) was my mom's spring break so we had planned to spend it together. We planned to spend part of the week at the beach with my mom's best friend Julie "Ju Ju". She lives in Perdido Key. Jody stayed in Atlanta to work. The boys and I left on Friday morning and headed to Birmingham. We stopped at my mom's school first to show her coworkers the boys. They were having a book fair so it was fun for Luke to get to see all the books. We then went to their house so the boys could take naps and waited for Ganna to get off work. We packed up the car and once mom was home we were ready to go. We got to "Ju Ju's" around 11pm. Luke had been acting a little tired all day and the next morning he woke up with a fever. This continued off and on the whole time at the beach. Luke was loving the beach... we tried to teach him that part of the beach was made up of "sand" and part was the "ocean" but he would still just call it the beach. The water was freezing... I barely wanted to put my toe in but he loved filling his buckets and running in and out of it. The weather was beautiful.. a cool breeze in the morning but it would warm up. With his fever we would just give him motrin and then he would feel ok and would be ready for the beach. We stayed at the beach until Wednesday and then returned back to Birmingham until Saturday. Lea was able to go with us to the beach and it was so special to spend the time together. She will be moving to Mobile this summer and so it will be harder to see each other as often. Once back in Birmingham we took the boys to the zoo. Luke was still not feeling his best but he seemed to enjoy it... he really liked the giraffes. Jake just LOVED it.. the train ride, seeing the animals.. he was having the best time! I can't wait to take them again and to the aquarium. I really was not sure what Jake would think but he was all smiles. We had packed a picnic lunch so that was a fun treat as well. Luke woke up on Thursday night and told me his ear was hurting.. he was crying and it was the first time he has really been able to tell me something hurt. I gave him some motrin and we put a warm rag on it and he was able to go back to sleep. We took him to the dr. the next day and they diagnosed him with an ear infection and also microplasma "walking pneumonia". I had been feeling sick as well but thought it must be allergies since pollen was everywhere at the beach. The dr. is the same dr. that my mom used to work for and so he told me that he felt that I had the same thing. We sounded just alike. So luckily he gave me a prescription too. We returned back to Atlanta on Saturday and it was really nice to be back at home. We missed Jody and he had missed us as well. It is always nice to go on vacation but being home is really nice too. Especially since our home is child proof for the most part :)
