Luke and Jake August 2012

Wow.. just looked back and it has been 8 months since I did an update on what the boys are up to. I use the blog as their baby book so I have to get better at documenting.

Luke 4 1/2 years old
  • continues to like computer games but has recently become interested in the Wii
  • has more of an attitude that we are working on. Shows some aggression when things dont go his way
  • has started showing more of an understanding about GOD and saying the blessing and prayers.
  • tries to read and sound out words.
  • still working on the staying dry all night. He has become more interested in wearing his underwear but he is such a deep sleeper and so wet by the morning that we are going to wait a little longer. We are trying to cut back on the amount of liquid in the afternoon.
  • continues to venture into new foods slowly. He will at least try new things and with a little less resistance. He loves to eat when it is the foods he likes. He is like a bottomless pit but it just has to be what he likes.
  • His teacher praises him for being a good listener, answering questions right during circle time, being really good at Math (he gets that from Jody).
  • playing more with Jake... sometimes trying to show him things to get him in trouble
  • he has started to tell us more about the things that he knows. He has not always been one to show everything he knows but recently we have been able to tell how much he truly takes in
    • He can recite the pledge of allegiance .... and at the end he says Justice for All.. Justin Bieber (They learned this at school and he says that Justin Bieber is another student's friend so not quite sure how that all came together)
    • He likes to listen to the song "Glad you came" over and over again
    • recited a song that they sang at church "God is so strong"
  • Started to sound out words and likes word finds
  • took swimming lessons and became a lot more confident in the pool. From watching other kids saw that being able to swim is really fun
  • found an interest in diving down for his dive sticks and is really good at going underwater to get them
  • Gaining more independence and testing the limits. Can tell that he is learning words/actions from other kids at school that we are working with him on not being appropriate at our house.
  • Working with him and Jake on playing nice together. They are playing more together but it usually gets aggressive.. maybe that is just boys being boys :)
  • 46lbs
  • Still very sensitive and my little boy that wants to please us. He will get in trouble but quickly learns from it.
  • Learning to ride his bike better. We have gone to the park and ridden around and need to go more so that he can continue to get better.
  • I never imagined at 4 years old he would be able to do all that he does. Such a smart little boy and we are so proud of him.

Jake 2 1/2 years old

  • Our little ball of energy. It is never a dull moment with this little guy around
  • loves to sing songs
  • can dive under water and get the diving sticks
  • It is just like pete and repeat at our house... this little guy wants to do everything his brother can
  • loves to climb and is not afraid of anything
  • he can say anything he wants and will often repeat anything he hears.
  • so observant and is able to put different concepts together
  • from watching Luke dive down underwater to get his diving sticks he can now go underwater holding his breath
  • took swimming lessons and is really good at kicking his legs and moving his arms
  • Gets frustrated and we are working with him on the proper ways to express your anger (not hitting, throwing his balls, etc)
  • He wants to be so big but at the same time is so loving and cuddles like my little baby
  • This boy LOVES his milk... he wakes up at 7am and says, "I want my milk"
  • We are working on potty training. He was really interested for a while and will go on the potty when asked but refuses to go at school. This is total opposite than most kids they say but we are working on him being more comfortable at school and more open to it. We are not rushing it as we know he will be more open to it when he is ready.
  • 32lbs
  • This guy loves all SPORTS... he has an absolute obsession with trying to throw his balls on the roof. If there is something he can throw the ball over or on top of it will happen.
  • We bought him a Jason Heyward shirt to wear to the Braves game a few weeks back. He now talks about J-Hey, Chipper, and Brian.
  • He will sit and watch baseball, golf, basketball, and football on tv and at the park. He is just fascinated with anyone playing a sport and wants to know all about it
  • He got a new bike because each week during the summer at his school that would have bike day. He is trying to learn the concept of pedaling and steering.
  • He can say the blessing word for word, and loves to sing songs. Our Jakie Poo is so full of life and keeps us on our toes.
I cant imagine a moment without these little guys. It is amazing how much they can do and how independent they are becoming. We love you so much and feel more than blessed to be your mommy and daddy.
