Luke starts PreK

Luke started the private PreK at Akers Academy on August 13th. He has been going to Akers since he was 9 months old so our only decision was between private and Public PreK. With my work schedule of 3 days a week we would only be able to continue with that schedule if we did the Private PreK. The Public PreK is funded by the lottery and so they are very strict on the amount of days you attend. We chose to do the Private PreK so we could have one more year of the flexible schedule. The boys dont like to have change in their routine so we tried not to make a big deal about Luke going to a new class. We gradually talked about having a new teacher and how he was not going to be in class with some of his friends but how they would be able to play on the playground and in after school together. In trying not to make a big deal I forgot to take a picture of him.. Thankfully his teacher took one but it is currently hanging at school. The good thing is that since they get to school early they still start school together in the same room so it did not seem like a big change when PreK started.

We had heard wonderful things about Ms. Elsje the Private PreK teacher and from the almost 2 months he has been in her class we are more than pleased. He will come home with new jingles and telling us all the things he learned that day. She loves teaching and it really shows in how much he loves being there.
