Luke and Jake Updates

I am way behind on the updates for the boys but hopefully I can do better in 2012. As we come into the new year we quickly approach both of their birthdays! It is so hard to believe we will have a 2 year old and 4 year old! Wow time really flies!

Jake:
  • Our little fireball has so much personality and loves to push his brothers buttons! You can see in his eyes that he is ready to wrestle!
  • We are working on being a good listener and not biting or hitting!
  • He can say anything he wants- including full sentences and 3 syllable words (disgusting, cinnamon roll, I want to go outside)
  • He wakes up around 6:30 and is ready for his milk!
  • He goes to bed around 8 and unless he has bad dream he sleeps through the night.
  • As of 1/2/12 he sleeps in a toddler bed- so crazy to believe!!
  • We are working on potty training a little bit. No rush but if he seems interested we will put him on the potty. He has not actually gone to the bathroom.
  • He is his brother's mini me. He will be right behind Luke in everything he does and says.
  • He likes to count along with you.. He knows the numbers in order from 1-13
  • He knows the tune to the ABC song and will sing parts of it but the letters are not in order
  • To say Jake is obsessed with sports and any type of ball is an understatement. He got so many different types of balls for Christmas that he was just in heaven. He likes footballs, basketballs, baseballs, and sicker (soccer) balls the best. He will run around and say football game, touchdown!
Luke:
  • Having a lot of success in potty training with only minor accidents here and there. He still wears a pull up at nap time (at home) and during the night.
  • He is more aware of signs and words and is always asking what signs say.
  • He also likes to try out all the public bathrooms! If you are ever in the bathroom at a store or restaurant and you hear someone having commentary on not touching anything and the difference between mommy and daddy bathrooms it is probably Luke in there.
  • He has nights where he will stay in his bed all night but he will still surprise us by coming into our room at least once a week. He has a hard time falling asleep at night. This probably means it is time to cut out the nap but he still needs the nap because he is much happier on those days! He will go to bed around 830 and fall asleep around 930 and then on non- school days he will wake up around 730.
  • He loves to say the word disgusting as well (from max and Ruby)
  • He is still our very picky eater! If we would let him he would eat peanut butter and jelly with fruit for every meal.
  • He is learning to play better with Jake. We give him a lot of credit because Jake can really push his buttons but he will still act calm and be nice to Jake. There are occassional attacks but overall he does really well with Jake
  • He is saying the blessing slower, louder, and more clearly now
  • Checking the mail is the most fun. He loves to get home from school and go to the mailbox to see if we have mail. Sundays are no fun because the mail does not come then. Still trying to understand that concept.
  • He can count up to 20 usually leaving out 16 but then can count in his 20's up to 30
  • He can sing the months of the year- even sang it at JC's church this past Sunday
  • He is learning to write his name and connect the dots (numbers) at school to create pictures
  • Luke likes to take his own picture. Jody showed him out to set the timer on the camera and he then proceeds to make silly faces- see picture below
Love my boys and all the excitement they bring to my life each day. Cannot even imagine a second without them. It is the best to hear them say "I love you, Mommy" Truly melts my heart!!
